Ok, so Friday I was thinking of sprucing up my blog a little bit. Being a fashionista on a budget I needed something quick and affordable. I quickly realized my frustration was growing as I began this quest... looking through the countless blog designing companies with prices ranging from $45-$500.00 (uhhhh yeah right). So I continued to look, and on the brink of a break down. I came across Nicole Parkers blogsite. I sent her an email, she quickly responded and the rest was history. I love my new design and look by the way. So romantic yet sassy which in two words defines muah. We also both figured out our b-days are on the same day it was destiny lol!

Last night while pursing the cosmetic isle at CVS Pharmacy I stumbled upon yet another picture of Halle Berry...being the poster girl of Revlon her face is always plastered everywhere. Anyway I noticed she had a perfume. Normally "celebrity" anything makes me cringe...i.e. Paris,Brittany, Mariah, JLo,just to name a few but the pretty, sensual tropical picture shown above added with the sweet musky smell of her perfume made me feel like I could close my eyes and instantly I was swinging on a hammock in Hawaii. And to my surprise all the fantasy or serenity and sensuality was nestled in this little bottle of perfume for only $34.

If your looking for a perfect and budget friendly Mother's Day gift this is one I definitely recommend. From one "Haute Mama" to another.

May 09 Mother's Day Soiree

Mother's Day is a time to reflect on how fabulous your Mom truly is, although this affection should be shown throughout the year...mom's really do need their own special day to be elevated and appreciated. So my friend Cheryl Sisson planned a fun day to host a Mother's Day Event for The Shabby Atelier to set up and invited her mom, mom in law and friends tho shop great deals and fabulous dresses. I also baked this giant cupcake to show my appreciation the day was "heavenly!"

Spring Full Figured Fab & Flirty Fashion Tips
Although I myself am not a full figured fashionista. I get a lot of inspiration from my mom. So I asked her what she feels is a great full figured fashion tip.
1. This season finally throw away all your elastic waisted jeans, skirts, and capri's.
2. Get fit not by a personal trainer( you'll have plenty of time for that) but by a personal stylist. A good one can show you your true body type (i.e. apple, pear, etc.) so you can dress to flatter you best assets.
3. Be bold with your beauty, color is key, green, orange, fushia, and yellow are amazing bold colors that can add flavor to your figure.
4. When getting dressed, start from the top to the bottom. Shoulders, bust, waist, hips, thighs and feet. Shoulders are a great place to play with detailed necklines to draw attention to all your natural glory (your beautiful face)lol!
5. Confidence is the road map to feeling and looking your best. Don't avoid posh events with lame excuses. Be confident, shop confident it's easy to work the room when you look good.
5. Maintain your glamourus glow drinking lots of water, plenty of sleep and personal pampering get monthly Mani/pedi's for the frugal fashionita, visit your hair stylists for a fun new do and moisturize from head to toe, get a massage.
6.Who cares in your own time, be consious of what you eat, if losing weight is an issue focus on 10lb increments not the lump 20-40 lb. Remeber day by day, week by week, month by month.

I was please as it was listed with dresses that I absolutely loved, from Cassie's Attic, The Eves Like Us, Sweet Tangibles, and Ruby Bandicoot, all perfect for a Spring Garden Wedding, Tea Party, or lunch with the girls. I love this website. OK so the "R" word has got every one a little down, scaling back from the M.A.C. counter, in my case the Target Make up isle, tried M.A.C, don't really get the hype...anyway I love make-up just like the nest girl so several years ago i stumbled upon E.L.F.com eyes lips and face and I love the fact that everything is relatively $1.00, no really, lip gloss, eyeshadow, mineral make up, eyeliner. So I finally received my order and in it I got a waterproof eye pen, Candy Shop lip gloss,Eye Make Up Remover Pads, Duo Eye Shadow Creme,and a trio pack of Lip Shine.
Yeah! log on to their website it's worth it.

Recession, Depression, Tomato, Tomato

I'm over it already! If I keep hearing the word "Recession" I'm gonna scream. Yes it's here but the reality is for me as an entrepreneur and struggling fashion designer I couldn't afford a Prada, Gucci or Dolce & Gabanna handbag or shoes for that matter before the recession. These day's I opt for shopping alternative retail outlets. Etsy.com has amazing independent designers like me who have gain notoriety in the world of craftsmanship and independent design. My favorite is shopping events, I've exhibited at a few, and shopped a few, Shecky's Girl's Night Out is one that I favor. It takes place in Los Angeles. Offering over 350 designers, boutique owners, jewelry, apparel, accessories, and an eclectic mix of unique gift items. Anyway I refuse to let not being able to buy extremely expensive handbags or shoes, or dresses to make me depressed because of the recession, who cares like I said I couldn't afford the stuff anyway, but trust and believe I've managed to be a fabulous frugal fashionita before the "R" word and definitely after. Happy shopping fellow fashion mavens.

Fashion Killer

How in the world am I suppose to look fashionable when, the sky is absolutely grey, black, ugh, yucky just doesn't describe the weather, and talk about bad hair day, let's not. Well let's...my hair is suffering a winter melt down, actually searching for a new style. We'll see what I come up with. My attire us suffering, it's murderous how I feel and look right now. I'm a true California girl, sun, beaches, and with the weather looking like this makes me beyond depressed. I envy bears, they hibernate during this time, sleep, and return, when the weather is beautifully shining, birds chirping and the butterflies fluttering, just in time for flip flops and mini skirts. Ugh! It's killing the fashionista inside. Help I need, retail therapy...light therapy and a little CPR. OK so this all sounds a little "over" dramatic but I do just want to crawl into my VS Lounger Pants, a tee shirt and wrap myself in my favorite pink blanket and yeah well HIBERNATE!

Introducing Lauren Luke, She's Fascinating!

I've been inspired by an amazing make up artist, not only is she talented but she's tenacious and imaginative. I'm a fan of the BBC anyway thanks to cable... umm, huh! But I'm a new fan of Lauren Luke, she was a young mom who had a passion for make-up and with out a stitch of training, in less then a year has made quite a name for herself. She has her own line coming out and if it's affordable I'll be buying it.

A little goes a long way!

So today I took a trip down to my favorite antique mall with my friend "Ireland". We were on the hunt for vintage clutches and fascinators. Now I love huge purses like the next girl, but my friend "Ireland" owns the cutest little purses, beaded ones, chic clutches and more. As I'm struggling for change for my lattes at the counter, (ugh, I hate that!) She quickly opens up her little purse, pulls out her little wallet and hands over her money. I always tell her she's little miss perfect, but I fancy the little purses. So I decided for the Spring and Summer, I will be conveniently carrying little purses that I swear will make my life just as easy as my friend 'Ireland".
