Fashion Killer

How in the world am I suppose to look fashionable when, the sky is absolutely grey, black, ugh, yucky just doesn't describe the weather, and talk about bad hair day, let's not. Well let's...my hair is suffering a winter melt down, actually searching for a new style. We'll see what I come up with. My attire us suffering, it's murderous how I feel and look right now. I'm a true California girl, sun, beaches, and with the weather looking like this makes me beyond depressed. I envy bears, they hibernate during this time, sleep, and return, when the weather is beautifully shining, birds chirping and the butterflies fluttering, just in time for flip flops and mini skirts. Ugh! It's killing the fashionista inside. Help I need, retail therapy...light therapy and a little CPR. OK so this all sounds a little "over" dramatic but I do just want to crawl into my VS Lounger Pants, a tee shirt and wrap myself in my favorite pink blanket and yeah well HIBERNATE!Photobucket

Introducing Lauren Luke, She's Fascinating!

I've been inspired by an amazing make up artist, not only is she talented but she's tenacious and imaginative. I'm a fan of the BBC anyway thanks to cable... umm, huh! But I'm a new fan of Lauren Luke, she was a young mom who had a passion for make-up and with out a stitch of training, in less then a year has made quite a name for herself. She has her own line coming out and if it's affordable I'll be buying it.

Check this chick out.

I{heart} Lauren Luke, if putting on a pretty face is not your cup of tea but desire to one day have a look like Leona Lewis, Angelina Jolie or just freshen your own natural beauty you have to take a look at her tutorials.

A little goes a long way!

So today I took a trip down to my favorite antique mall with my friend "Ireland". We were on the hunt for vintage clutches and fascinators. Now I love huge purses like the next girl, but my friend "Ireland" owns the cutest little purses, beaded ones, chic clutches and more. As I'm struggling for change for my lattes at the counter, (ugh, I hate that!) She quickly opens up her little purse, pulls out her little wallet and hands over her money. I always tell her she's little miss perfect, but I fancy the little purses. So I decided for the Spring and Summer, I will be conveniently carrying little purses that I swear will make my life just as easy as my friend 'Ireland".
Hope you like what we found.

"Celebrity Looks for Less"

I love how the The Style Network shows women how to freshen up their look, compared with a celebrity sleek and casual style you too can look like a million bucks but for less then $200.

If "She" Can Do It... So Can I

"Urban Princess"

Kimora Lee Simmons, has been one of my inspirations. Staying true to her ethnicity and using her opportunities as a model to become a multimedia mogul...well if she can do it so can I. I'm the face of The Shabby Atelier, watch me, my business and my company evolve. Follow me as I share my personal fashion tips, inspirations, sales and dreams with you my closest friends and family. Check out my "Personal Style Fashion Photo"

"Cover Lover" Mar. Elle Spring Fashion Issue

I love magazines, online and in print. It's weird I read magazines from back to front, I don't know maybe I'm magazine dyslexic. huh. anyway.

Jessica Alba looking quite seductive after getting hitched, and having a baby in June 08. Honestly I love the pictures but really have to be inspired to read the articles and I love to read. From cover to cover inundated with high fashion designers and high end photo shoots. Beautiful Spring themes, OK (wiping the drool from my lip). Magazines cause me to salivate. Yes it's a guilty pleasure that so many of us women obsess over. Obsession no not me, yes me.

Photography and fashion inspires me. I generates imagination and not necessarily an urge to splurge.

As much as I love leafing through the glossy fashion ridden, news paper. I had to wonder who can really afford Salvatore Ferragamo, Vera Wang(and not from Khols), Chanel and Louis Vuitton. Are these designers completely oblivious to the fact that we're in a nasty economical coma.

Either way one can only dream and seeing my girl J. Alba on the cover and girl Kimora gracing a page, visions of style, beauty and high fashion provides delightful dreams for mu ah.

Chillin On Valentine's Day

Instead of taking a glamorous weekend getaway at a fabulous boutique hotel which was what my hubby wanted to do. I opted for a traditional romantic dinner and a movie. I just wanted to spend a little QT time with the hubby no matter what we did. My Valentine's Day attire consisted of a cute black baby doll dress courtesy of The Shabby Atelier(better pics coming soon) pink tights, black boots , black and white checked scarf, with a beautiful fuchsia Swarovski crystal broach. No weird looking red sweaters for mu ah. It was a little chilly so obviously I bundled up.

Inspired by Confessions of a Shopaholic...How to look Fabulous in a Failing Economy

Personal Styling Tips

Brought to you by E.Robinson Owner of The Shabby Atelier

1. Don't follow trends they come and go.

2. Develop your own "personal" style. It makes you look original.

3. Diversify your shopping habits. Choose more than a brand name label to achieve affordable shopping.

4. Be open minded. Online and retail outlets are limitless, browse Etsy.com, ModCloth.com, Consignments Shops and Private Shopping outlets(ie Trunkshows, Shopping Events, Sample Sales) etc.

5.Try swapping with girlfriends, sisters, cousins, other moms etc. My girlfriends are very savvy shoppers, although we aren't all the same size we constantly swap jewelry, handbags, and other accessories.

6.Interchangeable Outfits...buy staple pieces, a black/navy jacket, black pencil skirt, white collar shirt, the ever so chic LBD. Choose solid color blouses to mix and match, be bold in your accessories (there always in expensive). A nice pair of slacks and a great pair of jeans, don't skimp.

7.Don't be afraid of change. Most women get stuck with buying what's familiar. By doing this, you end up with the same style shirt in 10 different colors. Step outside the box, it's ok you can always go back in. Nothing is permanent when it comes to fashion.

8. Understand, luxury is nice but not necessary when it comes to clothing. Be realistic about your budget, and shop smart.

9. Don't buy on impulse...recognize your need to shop on impulse, if you know you don't need it WALK AWAY!

10. Adopt the K.I.S.S Method to shopping and that's (Keep It Simple Silly) remember don't follow trends, shop smart, diversify your retail choices, buy what's necessary never forget, clothing is an expression of how you feel...even though our economy is bad doesn't mean you can't look your best.

Pieces of Meeeee!

Let me just say. I love photography, art, books, fashion having tea and crumpets, listening to music ect. As a child I longed to become a model, took a few pictures and attending modeling casting calls only for some "industry professional" to tell me I wasn't tall enough. We'll as I've gotten older I've embraced my height but still love the camera. In the past year I've tracked down amateur photographers even a few professionals to take pictures of my designs...hammering my brain thinking how in the world am I going to present my fashions if I don't have photographers, location, models, ect. Recently I've decided to try my hand at photography MYSELF. Yesterday was a cold and rainy day, and what better day then to play around with the camera. So here's what I came up with. This is me at my best...jeans and a long sleeve bbdoll tee. More pics me, my collections, and a few indie pieces I've designed to cooooome!

Breakfast@Tiffany's Spring Trunk Show

When I started my new business I didn't realize how much joy it would bring me. I began to hunt for women who were willing to practically give away their never worn or gently worn shoes for cheap. This Spring I'll be hosting a Breakfast at Tiffany's themed Trunk Show to showcase my new business and all the fabulous findings...I have so much more in store but here's a sneak preview of a few treasures I've discovered.

Perfect Lingerie T

I love playing dress up just like the next gal, I pride myself on being quite stylish but I'm the owner of tons of tees, I'm the tee shirt queen. That's why this cute lacy garter tee would be the perfect lingerie gift for me{along with a 4 carat diamond ring...ssshh j/k} or any other girl who prefers sweet over sexy lingerie any day. Umm let's see, Valentine's Day...oh how I love the sweet smell of chocolate raspberry cupcakes. Oh I just took a side bar for a moment. More Valentine's Day sweetness to come...stay tuned.

Retro Romance

valentines pin-up Pictures, Images and PhotosHow about an extra large cardboard shaped cut out heart to tickle your fancy. I'm a big fan of pin-up but, wouldn't dare think of taking any pictures. But one can only dream of such a fabulous era of sexy innocence. If your an adventurous type of gal don't hesitate to play pic a boo with the camera for your beau. My mama always said if you got it flaunt it.

Issac Mizrahi Designer Trailblazer?

Well at first, way back in the day when Issac Mizrahi started designing for Target I thought it was a little cheesy and weird. But being the marketing geniuses that they are of course Issac and Target knew better then me and yes the were right. Talk about eco-nomically chic, Issac's brand for the everyday woman was such a success that Target brought several other brands along for the ride, Sonia Kashuk, Jemma Kidd, {Modern Maternity Mogal} Liz Lange, and Mossimo are just a few of the list of Designer Brands that have join Target in eco-nomical style. You go Targ'e!

The Shabby Atelier {hearts} Taylor Swift For LEI Jeans

I must say for the record that I'm not a fan of Taylor Swift...but last night as I was watching E! they announced that T.Swift has partner with LEI Brand Jeans to create a complete line of sundresses, jeans, tees etc. The best part is, nothing will be over $14.00. I love that idea. When celebrity brands are sky high, and everyday female consumers are looking for a designer brand at an affordable price well this just made my day. I had to let my readers know. So regardless if you love T.Swift or not she's doing a good thing by attaching her name to an affordable brand.
