Inspired by Confessions of a Shopaholic...How to look Fabulous in a Failing Economy

Personal Styling Tips

Brought to you by E.Robinson Owner of The Shabby Atelier

1. Don't follow trends they come and go.

2. Develop your own "personal" style. It makes you look original.

3. Diversify your shopping habits. Choose more than a brand name label to achieve affordable shopping.

4. Be open minded. Online and retail outlets are limitless, browse Etsy.com, ModCloth.com, Consignments Shops and Private Shopping outlets(ie Trunkshows, Shopping Events, Sample Sales) etc.

5.Try swapping with girlfriends, sisters, cousins, other moms etc. My girlfriends are very savvy shoppers, although we aren't all the same size we constantly swap jewelry, handbags, and other accessories.

6.Interchangeable Outfits...buy staple pieces, a black/navy jacket, black pencil skirt, white collar shirt, the ever so chic LBD. Choose solid color blouses to mix and match, be bold in your accessories (there always in expensive). A nice pair of slacks and a great pair of jeans, don't skimp.

7.Don't be afraid of change. Most women get stuck with buying what's familiar. By doing this, you end up with the same style shirt in 10 different colors. Step outside the box, it's ok you can always go back in. Nothing is permanent when it comes to fashion.

8. Understand, luxury is nice but not necessary when it comes to clothing. Be realistic about your budget, and shop smart.

9. Don't buy on impulse...recognize your need to shop on impulse, if you know you don't need it WALK AWAY!

10. Adopt the K.I.S.S Method to shopping and that's (Keep It Simple Silly) remember don't follow trends, shop smart, diversify your retail choices, buy what's necessary never forget, clothing is an expression of how you feel...even though our economy is bad doesn't mean you can't look your best.
